James A. Newsom Of Counsel

Jim focuses his practice on personal injury litigation. Jim brings over 36 years of broad-ranging experience to the table. Jim’s practice includes premises liability, products liability toxic tort, property damage, admiralty/maritime, non-medical professional liability, domestic animals, commercial livestock, libel/slander, construction, and other matters.

Jim’s trial experience includes a broad range of civil matters. Over the years, Jim has tried simple, two-party, lawsuits involving many matters as diverse as trip and fall claims, dog bites and horseback riding accidents. Jim has also tried large, complex cases involving construction disputes, industrial accidents, and toxic tort cases. Some of the large cases took many months of trial and required extensive and complex pre-trial development. Jim also tried a single criminal case for murder, but don’t ask him about his murder trial because he will talk about it forever.

Jim enjoys the long-held relationships he has forged with established clients. By the same token, Jim also enjoys meeting new clients, learning about them, counseling them, and helping solve their problems.

Jim is admitted to practice in the State of Texas, as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

Jim graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude. Immediately following, Jim earned his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law, where he was the Research Editor for The Review of Litigation.
