Civil Defense Associate Attorney (Insurance Defense)

Role and Responsibilities

  • Manage an independent litigation docket from initial case intake through final resolution.
  • Handle all phases of discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery and motions. 
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, experts, and witnesses. 
  • Appear for court hearings, status conferences, mediations, and arbitrations. 
  • Prepare comprehensive legal research, briefs, and case evaluations for carrier clients. 
  • Communicate regularly with insurance claims adjusters and corporate clients regarding case strategy and budgets. 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active, in-good-standing license to practice law in Texas.
  • 3–5 years of civil litigation experience, with a strong preference for background in insurance defense or general liability.
  • Demonstrated experience handling depositions, court appearances, and motions practice.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
