Douglas E. Markham Associate

Douglas Markham has been an attorney with Sprott Newsom Quattlebaum Messenger since 2015, focusing his practice on medical malpractice defense and the representation of medical professionals in regulatory proceedings. Mr. Markham has worked in the legal industry for over 30 years, working at some of the top law firms in the region. He focuses on medical malpractice defense, defending hospitals, physicians, dentists, nurses, and is proud to represent medical professionals before the various licensing boards. He also enjoys learning new areas of science and medicine for each case and dispelling unrealistic notions of what a doctor can or should do in order to protect the professionals who devote their lives to treating those in need of medical care.

Mr. Markham is admitted to practice in all state courts in Texas, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third and Fifth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.

In his work, he is known to be calm, measured, and thoughtful, yet direct and realistic in his communications with his clients. He also strives to remain collegial and professional in his interactions with other members of the Bar as well as court staff and the state and federal judiciary.

Mr. Markham graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Bachelor Arts in Political Science and Speech Communication, summa cum laude. Subsequently, he earned his law degree from University of Chicago Law School. Mr. Markham achieved the distinguished AV Preeminent Rating by Martindale-Hubbell and has maintained it every year since. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, North Carolina State Bar, Houston Bar Association, Greater Houston Society for Healthcare Risk Management, and a Founding Member of the Houston Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society.
